Laura Long

Laura lives on a farm at Coonalpyn in the Upper South East of South Australia with her husband Aaron. They have 2 young daughters Chelsea (nearly 3) and Cadance, born in March, 2011. Laura has extensive experience in vocational education & training within the Agricultural and Conservation & Land Management industry, with a particular interest in traineeships. She was previously employed with a private training organisation where she managed the certificate II & III traineeship program.

 

Laura has a strong community ethic and has been involved in the Australia Day Awards Ambassador Program since its beginnings in 2008. She also volunteers her time as a motivational guest speaker for various organisations, and is the currently President for Coonalpyn and Districts A&H Show Society. 


Laura is an extraordinary communicator with excellent networking skills. She is also a determined campaigner to improve the training opportunities for young people and indigenous in rural regions.

During this year she was extremely influential in bringing recognition to training opportunities for youth in regional areas. Laura was also selected to represent the National Farmers Federation at the 2007 Young Farmers World Congress in Argentina, Buenos Aires.

 

Laura has also been appointed by DairySA as the Young Dairy Farmer Network co-ordinator. Laura's role is to coordinate communication between industry & young dairy farmers across SA.

Aaron Long

Business partner, Finance officer, Lecturer


Aaron co-manages the family farm with his brother at Coonalpyn in the Upper South East of South Australia. Aaron and Laura have 2  young daughters, Chelsea and Cadance. Aaron has extensive knowledge & experience in the agricultural training and consulting industry.

 

Previously Aaron was employed as an agronomic consultant by a private agricultural consultancy business working in broad acre consultancy, before returning home to manage the family farm. During his time as an agronomist, Aaron gained valuable skills and extensive knowledge about working in & managing a successful consultancy business.
